The word health is derived from old English haelth, which means whole, something complete. WHO defines it as a state of complete physical, mental, and social well-being and not merely absence of disease or infirmity? India with its rich heritage can add the word spiritual to it. Spirituality is a sense that there is something beyond self; something more to being human than merely sensory experience from good things in life. Centuries old saying, prevention is better than cure should be the focal point of the health of any Nation, India being no exception. Health of a Nation is reflected by health of its citizens. A healthy body requires a healthy mind, which in turn requires spirituality, altruism and positive thinking, a thought process that needs to reflect in the personality of all those in high offices. A healthy mind is fundamental to the flow of endorphins required for building up immunity for prevention as well as response to a disease process and treatment thereafter. When one considers what is mentioned above one would realize that every individual needs to play an active and responsible role in staying healthy and contribute to the development of the country.
